Apprenticeship/Advanced Apprenticeship 

 

This Apprenticeship deals with the movement and storage of goods, and is an essential part of logistics operations.

 

However, there’s a lot more to this job than just lifting and moving things around!

 

Duties will depend on the employer, but may include managing stock; audit inventory; keep equipment in good working order; process returned goods; or manage the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods. Subject to the job role - how to maintain the safety of hazardous goods and materials or use specialist equipment may even be covered.


Good teamwork is important when you’re working to a tight schedule, such as loading or unloading a lorry that can only wait for a little while before it needs to go on to the next job. The programme also includes how to maintain health and safety at work.

The Apprenticeship/Advanced Framework is made up of the following elements

 

Apprenticeship (Warehouse Operative)

·         Certificate in Warehousing and Storage – Level 2

Advanced Apprenticeship (Senior Warehouse Person/Team Leader)

·         Diploma in Warehousing and Storage – Level 3

 

·         Functional Skills  - Maths

·         Functional Skills – English

·         Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (embedded within programme)

·         Employee Rights and Responsibilities

 

Duration

Delivery and achievement of the framework is over a 12 month period

 

An individual learning plan will be developed in conjunction with the employer, employee and provider at the start of the programme. 

Ongoing progress against the learning plan is reviewed and monitored throughout the Apprenticeship.

(Warehouse Operative)

 

The selection and combinations of relevant units appropriate to the workplace and job role will be discussed in detail upon commencement of the programme.

Wrap and pack goods in logistics operations

 

Optional Units Group 2 (1 unit from this group)

Keep work areas clean in logistics operations

Maintain hygiene standards in handling and storing goods in logistics operations

Maintain the cleanliness of equipment in logistics operations

 

Optional Units Group 3 (1 unit from this group)

Use equipment to move goods in logistics operations

Moving and/or handling goods in logistics operations

Use a forklift side-loader in logistics operations

Use a compact crane in logistics operations

Use an industrial forklift truck in logistics operations

Use a hoist in logistics operations

 

Optional Units Group 4 (1 unit from this group)

 

Check stock levels and stock records

Keep stock at required levels in logistics operations

 

Optional Units Group 5 (A minimum value of 6 credits from this group)

Operate equipment to perform work requirements in logistics operation
